The Sunday just been (25/11/12) was the massive Farmer's Auckland Santa Parade (those that don't know Farmer's is a massive nation wide clothing store, has nice clothing, great make-up and awesome kids clothes). Anyways every year round christmas time they put on a massive parade that is in Auckland City CBD it goes down the main street of the city Queens Street, along Customs Street, then back up and finishes nearly all the way up Albert Street so about 2.2km. I wanted to be on Queens st near the bottom as Queen st. is on a hill I really wanted to capture the parade floats coming down distanced behind each other. Sadly we got there an hour before (should have gotten there earlier) and Queens street was totally packed already then again everywhere was packed (no suprises there) and was alittle guttered that I couldn't sit where I originally wanted too. So had to make do with Customs street. Well in the end it turned out to be a great spot, was standing on a elevated garden ledge standing higher then the those on the foot path and got a clear view of the parade with no one blocking my camera view

it was a bloody hot day and my garden ledge had a nice umbrella shaped tree so not only a great view but with a great shade too so it turned into a blessing instead.
But soon after my happiness turned to me being pissed off at myself, not only did I have the wrong bloody memory card (I cant believe I forgot to check which one I had) but to add insult to injury I forgot to add my charged battery and when the parade began my camera told me my battery power was low

lucky for me I have an iPhone (also takes great shots too) so was able to use the floats that were infront of me to take the photos too.
Got some great shots with both cameras and will soon load up my favourite ones on Dev. It was funny seeing kids sitting on the roof of all the public pay phone boxes

and the high rise office buildings were packed with people watching the parade from above.
